I am Beautiful!

Hello Behenji, one of my so called friends said, everyone knows who is more beautiful and more fashionable okay. So please don't try to act smart and look at yourself. Also she added you have nothing else to do in life other than just TRYING hard to be more fashionable and that you can never be. Also posting pictures on Facebook to get attention is the only thing you can do. I was listening to what she said, and cried secretly in my room. I couldn't tell anyone as I thought I am so not beautiful to fit in this world. 

I got up the other day, and was really sad thinking of what she said. I Looked into the mirror, my face looked dull. I started hating myself more and more thinking that I am not as beautiful as others are. I am not fair and I have got weatish complexion, I am not tall, I am not a person with that sharp features and I just thought I am a person with normal looks. Her words were echoing in my ears. 

I started blaming god for not making me that beautiful, for not giving me a fair color that most of the Indian's die for, I blamed god for not giving me sharp features, and I blamed god for the life that he gave me. I prayed to god to take this life away from me as it was not as I expected and I wanted. I wanted my life to be a fairy tale world where no one hurts each other, and everybody lives together without blaming things on each other. I wanted life to be like a straight road and not a roller coaster ride but it was opposite in reality. The dreamy world life was just like a dream.

While all these thoughts were going on in my mind I looked at the morning newspaper, the first thing that I read was a girl who was raped by a group of people while she was coming back alone from office. A van came, picked her up and took her to a remote area. Raped her brutally and the gang came back and enjoyed their night with beer. I thanked god saying "Thank you god you saved me from all these things happening in my life."

I turned the page and saw, a girl was burnt and was almost half dead because a cylinder busted in her house while she was cooking. I thanked god, for saving me.

Then I saw a add and they asked for donating the eyes after you die to the needy people who have not yet seen how the world looks. I thanked god for giving me both the eyes to see, ears to listen and a mouth to speak.

I was a little normal by that time. Went for a walk in the evening, saw a guy who had no legs and no hands. He was begging on the road. I gave him ten rupees and thanked god again for giving me both the hands so that I can carry my work myself, and two legs to walk.

I went to the temple and while coming I saw an accident. The guy was bleeding and as in a serious condition. People called the ambulance and took him to the hospital. I thanked god for saving me from accidents, and for giving a safe life.

While I reached home, the watchman's daughter came to me and gave three candies since she didn't have money to buy a big chocolate. It was her birthday and she was celebrating distributing the candies to people she loves. I went back to the grocery store and bought a big Dairy Milk for her. She smiled, and hugged me. It made me happy and I thanked god again for giving me all what I have in my life. 

I realized beauty is not about looks, or about color, or about fairness or about being fashionable but it's about carrying a positive attitude in life. I realized I am more beautiful compared to others who cheat, distrust, hurt, are double faced and thinks they are superior to others.          

I am beautiful! And I thank god for that.
